May 23 (Renewables Now) — U.S. metal products and electrical equipment maker Atkore Inc (NYSE: ATKR) has launched a new manufacturing line at its Phoenix, Arizona plant to produce components for the follow-on company Solar Nextracker LLC.
Nextracker said Atkore has expanded and adapted the facility to set up a line dedicated to manufacturing steel tracker components for use in large-scale solar farms. The first components to roll off the production line will be used for the 150 MW Agave Solar Project by Arizona Public Service Co.
“Partnering with Atkore in Phoenix delivers products to the epicenter of the rapidly growing Southwest region from a population and energy perspective and ensures that best-in-class product is available to enable this demand to be met with clean and affordable solar energy,” said the founder of Nextracker. and CEO Dan Shugar.
The news follows Nextracker’s recent announcement of a similar component manufacturing partnership with JM Steel in Texas.
“Building our manufacturing capacity with partners across the United States allows us to protect our customers from cost volatility, steel supply risk and logistical delays,” Shugar added.
