Muscat: Oman Cement Company (OCC) has issued a tender for the construction of its fourth cement production line in the Sultanate of Oman and the modernization of its third line.
The fourth line will have a capacity of 10,000 tonnes per day of clinker, while the daily capacity of the third line will increase from 4,000 to 5,000 tonnes per day.
OCC will add 11,000 tonnes per day to its current production levels as part of its plans to expand cement production in Oman to meet local market demand and achieve self-sufficiency in high-quality cement.
Ing. Salem Abdullah Al Hajri, CEO of OCC, said: “This tender has been launched for local companies operating in the Sultanate of Oman as part of OCC’s interest in increasing the added value of its projects and enrich local markets. This targeted expansion will be the largest of its kind in Oman’s cement industry to achieve self-sufficiency by 2023. “
The new production line will provide cement products at lower prices than imported cement. The line will create business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in Oman to supply OCC with local raw materials, such as gypsum and iron ores.
The line will also strengthen the construction sector and infrastructure projects by providing cement products at competitive prices.
