Toyota celebrates 3 millionth ZR engine off Deeside production line

Toyota celebrated making its 3 millionth ZR engine the Deeside Industrial Estate eengine factory.

The automaker said it was a “significant milestone that demonstrates the continued popularity and demand for its products.”

Since the decommissioning of the first ZR engine in 2007, 65% of the 3 million ZR engines are hybrids.

Demand for hybrid engines remains high, according to Toyota nearly 60% of all carmaker sales in Europe are now hybrid/electrified, which they say saves 160 million tonnes of CO2.

Workers at the Deeside plant have been thanked for their contribution to the realization of the 3 millionth ZR engine.

“Through their efforts, they helped Toyota become the second best-selling passenger car brand in Europe (their best position to date) and achieve a record market share of 7.6% in 2022.” The company said.

Plant Manager Tim Freeman said, “Everyone played a role in both production and support departments to achieve this result. ZR continues to be an important part of Toyota’s lineup and now offers real carbon emissions reduction.

“Thank you and congratulations to all – you should be very proud of this achievement.”

There are currently a number of engineering and administration vacancies at the Deeside plant, more information can be found here:
